Synopsis
Album DescriptionZap Mama has a plan. This multicultural musical entity led by Afropean vocalist and songwriter Marie Daulne is sending everyone on vacation, and the first and only item on the itinerary is ReCreation. In addition to a rhythm section rooted in a rich Brazilian vibe, ReCreation also boasts a guest list of high-profile vocalists including Bilal, G. Love, actor Vincent Cassel (La Haine, Ocean's Twelve) and several others. The album offers everything the title suggests - a time to make a break, to renew, and to play. "That moment when you are relaxing and enjoying yourself," says Daulne, "is the perfect moment to create a new person within yourself - to heal yourself and let go of all the negative aspects of your life. In those times when you relax, you recreate yourself."And in so doing, she says, we strengthen those longstanding relationships that are at the foundation of who we are. ReCreation is, among other things, Daulne's reaffirmation of the important ties that bind us all - parent and child, lover and friend, artist and audience, singer and song, human and universe. Although constantly evolving, these are the dynamics that connect us to our loved ones, our communities and to the world.ReCreation represents a new day - a happier one that bears a closer resemblance to the original brilliance of Zap Mama, and reflects the optimism of a new political and social climate around the world. "Sadness is a part of life," she acknowledges, "but this new record is about the joy that comes with being reborn. Even if you can't go on a holiday, you can listen to this album and feel renewed. This is how I want people to feel." Hit the play button. Make a change. Re-experience the positive vibrations at the heart and root of Zap Mama's original vision. Enjoy some ReCreation.

CD Reviews
Great CD A. Payen | Albany, NY USA | 09/25/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "Zap Mama, aka Marie Dulane, is an multiracial singer who is half African and half Belgian. Her music is a fusion of jazz, traditional african music, and scratch (synthesized beats). Her music is spoken word (poetry set to music). It is highly artistic and may not appeal to people who like pop. She sings in French and in English. It is great listening and driving music but may not be the best dance music. Her lyrics convey her personal life philosophies and a deep understanding of life and relationships. Zap Mama's musical stylings can be compared to Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. She has fun with her songs and the music is soulful. Her voice is unique sound which she experiments with on every track. You can here her French Belgian accent when she performs, She is for the more sophisticated listener and her music can be played around children. I recommend this product to all who like to experience new and unique sounds." Excellence Xolani Madlala | South Africa | 08/30/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "Hi i just purchased this new Zap Mama cd Recreation and i think Zap Mama stands above most neo-soul artists. my favorite songs here are 1. Paroles Paroles, this song makes me peaceful i love it so much - 2. Do You Wanna with Bilal - this guy has got to release another album i'm dying to buy him, he makes this song become something else. 3. African Diamond too is a beautiful track. how can i forget 4. Drifting w/G Love- listen to his flow there, he is so swift.5. Togetherness- the way she plays with her voice there kind of reminds me of the Amazone album which to me is her best album with Acenstry In Progress- all in all the album is worth buying, that is if you if Zap Mama is your kind of woman like she is with me, i buy just about all her albums. this album is not however an album i absorbed instantly like the "Supermoon" i'm taking my time with it. buy it and see what you have to say." Wonderful CD! A. Horikawa | 07/23/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "I am so shocked there have been no reviews for this CD yet! I guess I'll have to be the first one to say that this CD is great, one song after another. My favorites are Singing Sisters, Harlem, Parole Parole, No No No. The whole CD is fun to listen to. This CD has more of a world music feel than their last CD Supermoon. Again, if you are a Zap Mama fan or if you just like good music, you should add this CD to your collection."
