Mood music of the mind

"This particular Lateef album is very different from what I expected. And after listening to it several times I can only assume that he recorded this for his own amusement and personal gratification.Meditations is a musical mix of traditional woodwind instruments,acoustic guitar,piano and new age sounding synthesizers with a few vocal parts added here and there.All songs are titled meditations #1,#2,#3 and so on.The vocal parts are performed by female vocalist Michelle Fenton.She is excellent.Unfortunately she appears on only a few tracks.Lateef as always is awesome using a variety of flutes and saxes.He also supplys the piano/keyboard parts.The overall sound and feel leans towards new age with the jazz influences mixed in.The music is recorded well,and the instruments are balanced nicely.Sounds great through headphones!Yusef Lateef,s musical message here is soothing,hypnotic and yet perplexing all at the same time.My final thoughts! This music will take you on a journey to ??? Give it a listen and judge for youself!"
