"I am constantly on the lookout for different ways to keep my daughter's Chinese heritage in our daily lives. I am very pleased to have found this cd and my daughter & I like to listen to it while out and about in our car. There are 8 tracks to this cd and if there was any information on where the song was from I wrote it down below. My daughter is interested in listening, but at 2 1/2 wants to move on to a different cd after a few songs. I think as she gets older she will want to listen to more. I like this cd because the Erhu is very simular to a violin.
Our daughter's province is not included in this cd, but maybe your daughter or sons province is.
1st song - Pure White Hada Scarf - this song is based on Tibetan Xian-Zi style of music and decribes the happy character of the Tibetan people.
2. Welcome Home our Soldier Brother - This piece is based on the Wan Wan Operatic style from San-Xi Province.
4. Lament of the River House - In Chengdu City, Sichuan Province this song is about the River House & how the poetess Madam Xue Tao took her life.
5. Moonlight Reflection on Hui Spring - Hui Spring in Wuxi is the 2nd most scenic spring in China. This song is about a blind street musician.
6. Gymkhana - This song inspiration is from the folklore of Inner Mongolia where they celebrate the Na Da Mu Gymkhana festival.
