"An outstanding show from Senegal's ambassador of mbalax. A friend from Senegal gave me this DVD for my birthday. It took me a while to finally watch it because I wasn't all that excited about watching a concert performance on my little laptop. Now I wish I hadn't waited. In addition to Youssou N'Dour's mellifluous and soulful singing, there are dancers who tear up the stage as well as terrific back-up singers and a song with Rokia Traore, a fantastic singer from Mali (I really like her album "Bowmboï"). And always the sabar-inspired mbalax groove driving the grooves, as well as talking drum and an occasional djembe lick."
Best Ever Youssou Concert

"I love "Live in London" and "Live in Montreux", and now this one has blown me away even more. If you read my "Live in London" review, I forgot to mention that the majority of the London concert includes song from mostly "Joko" and "Nothing's In Vain". "Bercy" has songs from "The Guide" ("Dem", "No More") and also some I haven't heard before. Great guest singers and dancers, a packed arena of fans (bigger than Union Chapel in London) which provides for an ultimate party atmosphere, and interestingly, the songs seem sped up at a faster pace, sort of like hyperactive versions of the originals. I can't say enough about this concert: awesome editing, beautiful clothing, hypnotic, danceable, extended versions. Obviously, Paris is the best place to see Youssou. This is a high-tech concert with video screens above the stage, traditional jamming along with beautiful synths. Buy and enjoy forever!"
