A wonderful peek into Greek folk music

"I happened to stumble on this CD in the library as I was scanning through the world music section. What a lucky coincidence it was! It would've been a real pity if I had never found out of this wonderful music. The songs of the islands are beautiful, fresh and somewhat mystical as well, creating a strange and exciting feeling of ancient times.There are twenty-one great songs on the CD from melancholic pieces (my favourites) to joyful wedding songs, all of them full of true, fundamental Greek tradition. Yannis Parios's impressive, haunting voice makes you feel like you were in Greece yourself, on an island full of hospitable people. If you're a fan of Greek folk music, this is the CD for you."
