"As a retired music professor I feel qualified to say that this is a superlative performance and recording--especially of Dvorák's 7th Symphony, an under-appreciated masterpiece of late 19-century European orchestral music. The performance is nearly flawless and projects the intimacy, sublimity, and passion Dvorák surely intended. All of the inner intricacies of subordinate melodic lines and shadings of instrumental color are made clear. Tempi are dead on; subtle and appropriate rubati and accellerandi enhance the dramatic presentation. Balance and blend are consistently pleasing. The recording captures the full range of expression from quiet intensity to the highest emotional climax without distracting noise or distortion. Excellent "presence" (you will feel as though you are sitting in one of the best seats in the concert hall). I previewed numerous MP3 recordings of the 7th Symphony before purchasing this one. This is by far the best I could find. "The Golden Spinning Wheel" is an enjoyable composition and performance, as well, but the Symphony is the reason to buy this album."
