A decent Buy

"Like most I was hooked by the song "New Soul" in the Mac Air ad. So I march to the store and get the CD (I still like CD's, something about the smell-anyway...), and play her in my car right away. I didn't feel the need to skip one song which is very rare! This is a very well written, well sung and thoughtful and mellow pop album. I liked it. I will say that "new soul" sounds a little out of place even though it's a brilliant song. So this girl kind of reminds me a little of Regina Spektor and a lot of Fiona Apple but she's got her own thing which is nice and refreshing to me. If there's a song I didn't like at ALL was her remake of Britney Spear's "Toxic"; Don't get me wrong it's a different take on the song and an improvement but I can't get the original singer out of my head and it angers me that I'm forced to think of Britney at all! Otherwise I'm learning to like the Cd more and more every time I listen to it."

"Yael Naïm's incredibly single, New Soul, as featured in the new MacBook Air commerical is one of, if not THE best song I've ever heard.

Yael Naïm's vocals are amazing in this song, and it is met with incredible lyrics that will make even the saddest of people happy, and if a song can do that, one knows that it's quite amazing.

In short, New Soul is one of the best songs you'll ever hear, and is definitely going to become a single that will go down in the history when the Gen-Yers are in their sixties. It will be remembered then.

It sticks in a very good way. Happy purchasing!!

"This is an exciting debut album from an Israeli singer-songwriter. Since she's not a ultra-fluent speaker of English, her English language lyrics are simplistic but are competent enough."
