"His melodies are absolutely beautiful. His guitarplaying is emotional and innovative. He draws from blues, jazz and european folkstyles and creates very distinctive personal music. Listen to LISBOA. This guy is a treasure."
Unique and great music

"This album is very representative of Woody Mann's style, a genre of its own; a mix of Acoustic Jazz, Country Blouse, with a touch of Soul and Classical guitar. A finger style guitar virtuoso, Mann blends these into unique style and sound, probably unlike anything else you will hear. His finger picking technique is mastered to a perfection, and yet full of feelings and harmony.
In Stories Woody Mann combine purely instrumental works such as "Heading East", "East Side Story", "Lisboa", "Slow Motion", pieces in truly Mann's style, others like "Blind Arthur's Breakdown" are more reminiscent of Django Reinhart - are all brilliantly performed.
Where Woody sings: "God Works in Mysterious Ways", "Cheap Cherry Wine", "Sweet Soul Music"... his voice sounds in complete harmony with his guitar.
Both vocal and instrumental pieces reflect different states of soul and mind from deep contemplation to cheerful and light headed. Stories is really for all kind of moods.
I recommend Stories to every genuine music lover.

"Mann is an exciting guitarist whether he is interpreting the old masters like Blind Blake or Big Bill Broonzy writing his own. "God Works in Mysterious Ways" is an incredible song. There isn't a bad cut on this album. His technique is flawless. I just wish I could play like he does."
