Great Live Recording of Woody's '60s Band

"In addition to this being an outstanding value, this is a great live recording of one of Woody's greatest Herds, featuring great solo work of Sal Nestico, Bill Chase, et el. Speaking of Chase, if you like the hard driving, high note lead work of this trumpet legend, there's plenty of it on this recording. Despite the price, it's a high quality recording. The chart selection are a nice blend of straight ahead swingers, as well as funky arrangements of pop tunes of the day, i.e. Hey Jude, Say a Little Prayer, Light My Fire, etc. Great stuff!"

"Laserlight does it again. Great modern recordings of Woody & his Herd. You will not be disappointed. Recording quality is quite good. I met Woody Herman about 1 year before his death. He was in his eighties and still playing in jazz clubs. I saw him at a place called the "Rib Exchange" in the suburbs of Chicago. He had to play joints all the way up until he died because of tax problems. His old manager ripped him off. This recording is vibrant, early-70's modern jazz stuff. Dig it."
