"I saw this group live in Vermont a few years ago, and was glad I picked up this cd. I live near the ocean and there are a few really wonderful sea chanties/maritime tunes on this disc such as "Haul Away Joe" and also "Lift & Tow." Perhaps the best song of all is the title track "This Side of the Sea", an autobiographical ballad about a man's ancestors from Ireland and their tragic history. Anyone who can trace their blood back to the Emerald Isle will appreciate this really poignant song. One of my other favorites is "Bedford Harbor", about a Northeast town on the water where the tourists come in during the summer and then leave when the weather gets cold. It is a fairly depressing song about people just trying make a living with a few touches of dark humor: "The living ain't easy but the view sure is swell." Anyone who likes music from artists such as The Band and even Jethro Tull would enjoy this cd. This is hard to find so buy it now if you can, you will not regret it."
