CD ReviewsAt last i've found "baby...!" Anikka | Bronx, NY United States | 05/18/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "rarely do i buy a cd before hearing 2 or 3 songs but i've been searching for "baby i'm scared of you" for at least a year! a dj at a block party gave me the wrong title and the wrong singer so you have no idea how excited i am to have come upon this completely by chance. it has got to be one of the smoothest tracks from the 80's and it's one of my fave old skool dance records. how could anybody not look fly rockin to that beat at a backyard bbq?! and after reading the other reviews i'm sure i will find other tracks worth listening to and other womack & womack cd's worth buying." I'm still scared of Womack & Womack! Vance R. Kenney | 10/20/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "Just to give you an idea of how long I have cherised this CD I actually have the LP that I purchased while in College. I am 42 and everytime I hear "Baby I'm scared of you" on the Chicago radio stations I get into a seriuos groove. The cut still resonates with me big time. I am especially thrilled to find out that I am not the only Old School that still loves this cut! It would really be nice to see Womack and Womack come back and do a remake of the cut and the whole entire CD! Vance" Rock & Soul's Missing Link PhDJ Eugene | Seattle, WA USA | 05/21/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) ""Love Wars" is one of those earthy masterpieces that comes from left field, like it's hit single, "Baby I'm Scared Of You". The song starts simply enough, then midway through, you're sucked into this undercurrent of a groove, immersed until it finishes!
"A.P.B." (They were fond of acronyms, huh?) is a staple in my rock & roll sets when I DJ, but it's "Catch And Don't Look Back" that really sends me. Linda's vocals are so honest and the interplay between guitar and keyboards add to this thoughtful mood. I try to imagine Mick Jagger's reaction when he heard their version of "Angie." What a compliment that must have been-next to Labelle doing "Wild Horses", of course, but that's another review. The unity of rock and soul is a powerful thing. "Love Wars" is an incredible link in the chain." |
