"I am absolutely biased about this recording, as I'm a huge Matt Mahaffey fan. By the time I got to track # 4 on this CD the first time I listened to it, I told my wife that it was on my Top 10 Albums of 2006 list. These rhythm tracks (drums) are well assembled and never slouch into a bored mediocrity. Vocals are perfectly delivered with multi-layered harmonies, accompanying expertly as well. I'm not certain whether there are any real guitars used on it though, as the way in which those sounds are delivered also suggest they could be sequenced keyboard parts, using a distorted guitar voice/sound. It's all pretty upbeat, bouncy, even dance-y. Matt's sense of rhythm, melody, and harmony make this album a winner, even before the laser reads the surface of the disc. I'm not well versed in Jeff Turzo's God Lives Underwater, but I'm definitely curious about them after enjoying this so much. I can't recommend this highly enough. It has industrial qualities, yet hardcore industrial fans will call this lame and not heavy enough. I find the opposite true for myself. I'll take great melody and harmony any day over uninventive, droney typical stuff. This album only has 10 songs but it's definitely worth the price of admission. Check it."
Best record of 2006?

"I am pretty much in awe of "Break Out the Battle Tapes," the debut from Wired All Wrong, AKA Matt of sElf and Jeff of God Lives Underwater.
What does it sound like? Well, it's the melodies and harmonies of sElf with the computars of GLU. It's hard underpinnings with poppy-sweet vox and pep atop. It's Matt's bratty diction with Jeff's electrogrunge.
It's brilliant. It's the most enjoyable record I've heard in ages. Only one track ("After All") flops, and that's relative. The rest are ingenious, infectious and marvelous. GET IT!!!"

"I haven't heard an entire album that knocked my socks off like this one in YEARS! My husband bought this immediately after it was released and it hasn't left the disc player since. This album is so incredibly outstanding that I just cant help but listen to it all day. If you have ever enjoyed Self or Matt Mahaffey or God Lives Under Water you MUST purchase this album, you wont regret it."
Best Release of 2006-So Far

"I have been anxiously waiting for the arrival of this disc and it is wonderful. Electro-industrial-pop madness, it's unbelievable. Lots of processed sounds interspersed with Mahaffey's genius of a catchy melody. These 10 songs fly by so quickly, you usually have to listen to it 3 or 4 times in a row to get your fill. Fans of God Lives Underwater and Self undoubtedly know something about this release and it's been well worth the wait. Excellent release!!!"

"This album is perfect. Its very catchy, and rockin', but at the same time I almost want to breakdance to it, and the beats are amazing. I'll spare you a long review, but I will say that buy this album, and you won't be disappointed."
