"Winifred Atwell's success as a pianist in the 1950's was built mainly on her famous "Medleys" - six or eight tunes strung together across both sides of a single. They comprised more than half of her eleven Top Ten hits between 1953 and 1959. That's why, when Spectrum released "The Best Of Winifred Atwell" in 1999, and didn't include even one medley, her fans were a tad miffed (that's English understatement for annoyed). Little did we know what Spectrum had up their sleeve - a second release concentrating solely on the medleys. The ten tracks listed on the CD are actually twenty as each medley was split into two parts and released as side one and side two on the original singles; both parts of each title are included. Rest assured, they are all original recordings and sound great. The only criticism I could make is why use four tracks that failed to make the charts but leave out one that did? For the sake of completeness it would have been nice if "Let's Rock 'n' Roll" had been included."
