Synopsis

Album Description
"The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran is one of the best loved and most widely read spiritual writings of the 20th century. Its inspiration and encouragement ? its gentle, poetic guidance, have brought new insight and hope to millions. As the Chicago Post said of this book, "Cadenced and vibrant with feeling, the words of Kahlil Gibran bring to one?s ears the majestic rhythm of Ecclesiastes? If there is a man or woman who can read this book without a quiet acceptance of a great man?s philosophy and a singing in the heart as of music born within, that man or woman is indeed dead to life and truth." In this new, two CD recording, narrated by William Simpson, the founder of The Conscious Living Foundation, a wonderful blend of sensitivity and insight are combined with a tone of authenticity that can only be expressed through genuine experience of the subject matter, rather than just a theatrical dramatic reading of it. Mr. Simpson?s own wisdom and maturity radiate through! the recording, touching the listener with a clarity of expression and compassionate insight that are rare and inspiring. The voice of the narrator becomes the voice of the prophet ? melding into one powerful, yet gentle, guide for the spiritual growth of each one who hears this recording. "And what is it to work with love? It is to weave the cloth with threads drawn from your heart, even as if your beloved were to wear that cloth. It is to build a house with affection, even as if your beloved were to dwell in that house. It is to sow seeds with tenderness and reap the harvest with joy, even as if your beloved were to eat the fruit. It is to charge all things you fashion with the breath of your own spirit..." Kahlil Gibran - from "The Prophet"

(3 out of 5 stars)

"I grew up on the original LP recording and this doesn't compare. It was extremely disappointing to have purchased this and not get even half emotional reaction of the original reading.

If you like listening to someone sermonize, then it should be acceptable.
