A spectrum of Mathias

"This album covers a panoply of Mathias pieces. One of the best modern composers of accessible classical church music (e.g. not too 12-tone and certainly not too folksy), Mathias captures its best 20th century aspects. A mix of english and latin pieces, with an excellent balance of organ and choral music. My favorite is the "Gloria" in the Missa Aedis Christi (#8 in the listing). Upbeat and varied in tempo, his works are some of the most inspired religious music available today."
