"Ode Music has been out for about 2 or 3 weeks now here in Belgium, and now I finally have the chance to write a review for this cd. It is completely instrumental, as it is meant to be the soundtrack for a movie nobody will probably ever see. But the cd can easily be listened to without seeing any images. Just make your own images while you're getting carried away by these great soundscapes. A must for all Palace fans of course, and a fantastic teaser for the upcoming full cd (hopefully in March)."
So...where's Will's voice?

"First, I am a die-hard Will Oldham fan. So it disappoints me greatly to say this CD is a self-indulgent throw-away. There seems to be only a couple of different songs here, played over again with only a slight change here and there. Sorry Will:( But I still can't wait for Lost Blues 2."

"If you're looking for Oldham's voice, you've got a wide world to explore--elsewhere. Here, it's music stripped down to deceptive basics. I say "deceptive" because there's so much to love and enjoy in these tracks; I've been listening to this CD for seven years now and haven't yet tired of it. I write to this music; I cook to it; I read and think and doze to it. It's soothing, but at the same time it's conducive to productive thought. Yes, these songs are plain. Yes, they feature repetition. And it works."
First Time Will Oldham listener

"I am a first time Will Oldham listener. I got his CD Ode Music for free from Will Oldham himself. He lives a few houses down from my home, his CD is pretty good and I really like it although he repeats his sequence of music in most of the tracks, but the music is pretty relaxing to me and it's a perfect 5."
