Album DescriptionThis fourth release from the Wholesale Klezmer Band is truly Yiddish soul music, accurately echoing a wandering people whose music, too, wanders from one mode to another, an accordion butting here against a bass line there?centered only around the main ba'al tfile's (prayer leader's) melody of clarinet or violin, and around the neshome (soul) of yidishkayt itself. This is the style the band has followed, as for 20 years they've helped keep this tradition alive, singing songs of peace and playing tunes that send them and their audiences dancing with joy. Highlights include a 10-minute dance medley as well a medley entitled "The Time of the Messiah", which includes clarinetist Sherry Mayrent's performance of "Az der moshiakh vet kumen" and vocalist Yosl Kurland's original song "Az moshiakh vet ersht kumen."
