Ya had to be there

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Back in 1973, at the age of 16, and listening to much music of the times (rock & roll that is), along with proportional quantities of substances being injested, I went and purchased this album for $6 and change one evening. I sat up through the night listening to all four sides of the album, several times, while smoking away. The next morning I jumped on the bus, went up to ticketron, and purchased 10 tickets for The Who in Madison Square Garden for $50.00, that's right, $5.00 a ticket. (where did I get $50.00 bucks from?, alot of money at that time, $5.00 for a 1/4 oz. of weed, $.65 for a pack of smokes in a machine, $.69 for a quart of beer, times have changed). Anyway, the show turned out to be fantastic, as all were in those days. As I remember, 4 hours + with one short break. This album is, needless to say, one of my all time greatest. As a matter of fact, I listened to the whole thing just a few weeks ago. I need to do that every six months to a year to remind me where I came from. I now have a hefty collection of sixties and early seventies ROCK & ROLL, about 1000 CD's, but this is a favorite for personal reasons. There is a movie that came out which is quite good also. When we viewed it upon release, we actually identified with alot of it. Ya see, we hung out like that. Many, many dozens of people, sometimes even a 100 or more, drinking, laughing, dancing, just having a good time, and of course listening to music like this. To recommend this album would be useless, as you had to be there. But to all you who were there, glorious memories to say the least."
