"Being a Windham Hill collection, most of the songs on this CD are rich with feeling and lush in sound. I and my spouse have spent many a cold wintery night snuggled under warm quilts as this album played. It is the perfect compliment to the seasonal ambiance we love to create in our home.
The opening song of this album is absolutely perfect! Closing my eyes, I can actually 'feel' the blustery snow flying all around me.
The song, "Asleep the Snow Came Falling" is the most intensely evocative piece of music I have ever heard - and I've heard a LOT of music in my 42 years. It's a gentle, soothing song with Oboe and Cello alternating almost mournful solos. If a passionate heart could speak without words, this song is what it would sound like.
The predictable Celtic influence is there, very evident in 3 or 4 songs, but subtle throughout the entire collection of songs. This CD is often played in our home and no doubt will continue to be for very many years to come. The music on this CD is as timeless as love and passion. I HIGHLY recommend it.
