"people who don't know anything should just help with keeping a pleasant silence for the sounds made by those who do. john schott is a guitarist & michael sarin, whose name is even at the top of the page, is the mysterious drummer on these tracks. as far as this being an unengaging listen, that all depends on the sensitivity of the listener. the new klezmer trio played some great music, but for a deeper, more contemplative, even "engaging" listen, ben goldberg's developing style is far more rewarding. "what comes before" is a great place to start & "almost never" a beautiful place to end up. as an aside, john schott is a very interesting composer in his own right. check out "in these great times" or the tracks he wrote on "ghost of electricity." this album is gorgeous. get it."
