"My wife gave me this CD for Christmas 2002 and I just love it! It is well recorded with good harmonic texture and wide-range sound. Neeme Jarvi and the Philharmonia do justice to this music. It outshines Kubelik and the Bavarian Symphony on DG. I really love the "Turandot March" with the excitement of the whacking of that bass drum! Not necesarily your "dinner by candlelight" music, but nevertheless one of the best for Weber Overtures. Roy Goodman and the Hanover Band gives it some competition; since they use original instruments in this orchestra, the music is transposed in a different key. Both are outstanding."
