CD ReviewsAmazing Album - You'll Love It J. Lewis | Silver Spring, MD USA | 04/25/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "Wayna has one of the most moving voices I've ever heard. Her music is passionate and her lyrics are inspiring. While more and more artists use commercial formulas to churn out music, Wayna stays true to her heart and sets herself apart from that crowd, creating original and soulful music. Music about the hardships of life, about family, and about love. Wayna is truly one of the best talents out there. Please, do not let this gem of an album pass you by!" Fresh sound, beautiful voice Anteneh Adeba | Silver Spring | 04/22/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "Can't take it out of my cd player. Starting from the catchy go go sound "So long" to the soulful blues "Slums of Paradize" which is my favourite in the album, it is a neo soul CD to be reckoned with. "Mama's Sacrifice" is another wonderful song. The other thing you can appreciate from this CD is the lyrics which is positive in every way. We haven't seen in a long time. Simply wonderful CD. I want to see her live shows though. They are the best in DC area." Timeless Angela J. Bass | Oakland, CA United States | 12/16/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Okay, I'm about to get on a plane, so I have to write this real quick. Wayna's voice is like no other. Some try to compare her voice to E. Badu's, but not so. Wayna's sound is natural, and although Badu is super talented, she sometimes manipulates her voice to create a certain sound. Wayna's lyrics are deep, often touching on serious social issues and issues related to immigration. The beats seem carefully chosen/crafted and this is the reason I call her music timeless. You can't categorize the sound by a time period, like "early 90s" or "mid-2000s" because they weren't created to adhere to the current trends. You won't know you're listening to an album from 2004/2005 when listening to it in 2008. I love this album. the harmonies are lovely. the lyrics, like I said, deep and meaningful (no singing "baby" 100 times in a row and calling that lyrics) she has something to say. It's just a really impressive work of art. Definitely buy it. She's in a class all her own."
