CD Reviews

Will the real Waterboys please stand up?

"
It's hard to know which album I'm reviewing here because this first "self-titled" album has been released and re-released and re-re-released ad-infinitum. The 5 stars I'm giving is to the first time I heard the album in 1985. It had five songs on it...December, Savage Earth Heart, A Girl Called Johnny, I Will Not Follow and It Should Have Been You. The second version, released many years later claimed to be the real album with three additional tracks...Gala, The Girl in the Swing and Three Day Man. I give that album 4 stars. Subsequest releases again have bonus tracks and/or alternate claims of being the real "real" album. I can't keep track of them; however it is my opinion that they are inferior to the original releases and are for serious collector's only."
Waterboys [Original Recording Remasterd] [extra traks]

"Lyrics that will bite you heart out mixed with karaoke loops. It just happens to be pure unadulterated folk rock art that will touch your soul. If you were not alive in 1982, then jump on for a trip to the past. "Savage heart" followed by "Something Fantastic" presents an artistic range unseen in todays cookie cutter world."
