"Move over Brailowsky and Lipatti, there's another Chopin Waltz king on the block. Every note is so elegantly placed and highly polished that there's a complexity about these pieces that is revealed. Katsaris' interpretations are original and no piece is spared with a lavish amount of emotion and dedication. Certainly a must have for Katsaris and non-Katsaris fans.



One word comes to mind regarding this cd: thoughtful!"

Katsaris achieves a new sound for these well known classics.

"Cyprien Katsaris in not only a superb performer & recording artist, but a conscientious scholar of music who infuses his renditions with youthful, 90s verve, while taking a fresh approach to the composer's original intent. The first time I heard these waltzes I was hard pressed to believe they were the same recital pieces so often belabored - his performance, in my opinion, surpasses previous standard bearers like Claudio Arrau by light years.
