A good addition to any music collection

"Anyone who writes of Wallace Roney as merely a Miles Davis knock-off is simply not listening hard enough, and it's just as pointless as it would be to dismiss every saxophonist since '67 as simply another Trane wannabe. Wallace is one of the most recognizable trumpeters around today, in my opinion. Yeah, the Miles influence is there, but he's got the chops and definitely has his own thing going on. This album is really a worthy addition to any jazz collection, with good tunes and great musicians, especially the guest appearances by Pharoah Sanders, Chick Corea, and Michael Brecker. And Lenny White really kills on drums. The first half of the tunes are pretty much straightahead, and the second half incorporates extra percussion and adds some West African rhythms, as well as a little synthesizer. Consistently intense, interesting, and enjoyable music throughout. If you like any of the players mentioned above, or are just looking for a really good jazz cd, this is one to get."
