"The STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK is remembered mostly for their super number one smash hit from 1967, "Incense and Peppermints", and (their pretty far out name). They released four albums, a soundtrack record, and a greatest hits LP. They lasted on the music scene for about three years. One of their members went on to be one of the main members of the ultimate Southern Rock Band."Lynyrd Skynyrd" (ED KING) They did manage about four other small top 100 hits, "Tomorrow" being the only other Top 40 hit and the others reaching into the top 100, briefly.
"Wake UP, It's Tomorrow" was the Alarm Clock's second record and probably their best. Their first LP was excellent but it is a bit more raw and disjointed compared to "Wake Up". "Wake Up" was released early in 1968, and with it's release came the fantastic sunshine-pop hit "Tomorrow". It's a shame that the song stalled at number 23 on the charts. It was just about as good as "Incense". The album didn't fair too well either. The sad thing is that the album is full of melodic, happy tunes, that just make you feel good!! It also has a classic mellow psych sound throughout. Some wanted to label the group bubblegum but I feel that that would be a misnomer.
Besides "Tomorrow", "Pretty Little Song From Psych-Out" is outstanding, too. "Nightmare of Percussion" is quite Freaky and there are several other songs on the CD that are so typical of early 1968! If you want to go back and really enjoy a sound of an era, pick up "WAKE-UP" it will be a great new day!!!"
