Possibly the most beautiful disc you'll ever own!

"I bought this disc based on a stellar review in the old "CD Review" magazine back in 1988, and it has never ceased to be on my I'd-take-this-to-a-desert-island list. The viola d'amore, for the uninitiated, is a 14-stringed instrument....seven are played and the other seven -- the "sympathetic" strings -- resonate the sound. The result is a hauntingly beautiful and mellow sound.I've heard a couple of versions of these works, but I doubt that any could surpass the beauty of this performance. If you like Baroque music at all, this recording gets the highest possible recommendation."
Great music, great music-making

"This is one of the best Vivaldi CDs I own. I am wondering how come and this great music is not that well-known. I find these concertos deeply emotional, far from the "easy listening" Vivaldi violin concertos that we are all aware of. Laszlo Barsony is an excellent soloist bringing out all the colors and aromas of the music. The support of Janos Rolla and the LFCO is sympathetic but the crown of this CD is the viola d' amore playing. Other than the high price this is an excellent CD."
