"I am giving Rosmira Fedele five stars even though it is not perhaps as great an opera as Catone in Utica or La Verità in Cimento. I have listened to it several times and it gets better every time. I am not knowledgable in music; I only am a passionate music lover so I cannot tell you the technicalities. I can only tell you that the music is delightful and will please anyone who loves Vivaldi's music. The singers in my view are superb. Some people may be put off by the applause which follows each aria. I am not. It made me feel that I was at a live performance and sometimes I join in the applause. It may not be Vivaldi's greatest work, but in my opinion Vivaldi's second best is 10 times better than almost anyone else's best. If you love Vivaldi, buy it."
Caution! Wobbles Ahead!

"I did a stupid thing and relied SOLELY on a CD review in Opera News (written by one of my favorite singers, Drew Minter) before buying this opera. It is a disappointment (understatement). The singers are mediocre (with two exceptions) and the orchestra is uninspired --no doubt fatigued by the unnecessary length of this VERY ORDINARY opera. Other sounds intrude: the never-ending applause and RUMBLINGS (one hears the sounds of the singers plodding the stage -- on my sound system it reminds me of a storm brewing in the distance or the commencement of an earthquake!) One female singer on this CD (she shall remain nameless) wobbles, hollers, and shrieks thru her high notes; she seems "lost" and unsure of her voice. I reread Minter's review and can only believe he wrote such a kind review in order to boost baroque awareness? support the "troops" who explore Vivaldi's works? If you still are tempted to buy this CD...PLEASE find a place you can listen to this FIRST!"
Enjoyable Vivaldi Opera

"Since I first heard this album, the quality of recording and performance impressed me so much. ALl the arias are very delightful, skillful, soft, warm, and full of the fragrance of Vivaldi's musics. There is a kind of charming in all the instrumental and vocal works of Vivaldi, that is, a "cerebral inspiring" effect I suppose. I like to listen again and again, since it has some kind of activation effect in the brain, and makes me feel comfortable. The effect is different to Mozart's and Beethoven's, perhaps the neurologist should study it.
Just like the joy and surprise after the first time I listened to the sacred music of Vivaldi (the 10 discs conductd by Vittorio Negri), this first recorded opera has the same splendid feeling like the sacred music, except this opera is joyful other than sorrow that some sacred musics used to be.
The applauses do cause some interruptions, since it's live recorded, so it may be hard to control the audience. What I have done is to extract the tracks, convert them to mp3 or wma, than use sound editing software to cut the applauses off, then it's more comfortable to enjoy.
Well, since it's live recorded, I am very expecting the DVD version to come!"
