"Roberto Michelucci presents bach from angle of elegance and percision, with tonal qualities in his instrument, make this set the finest ever.
I just got in the Gideon Kremer conducting St Martins. As much as I highly regard Kremer(equal to Oistrakh), his conducting leaves much to be desired and the St Martin's has a difficult time with Bach. You can read my review, which I will post shortly, after I sell my copy.
The tempos might seem to be too careful to some, but when you consider how much great care is given to presenting all the notes in a intergratuve whole, you appreciate the results.
This is the finest recordings in these 3 great concertos.
I see 3 copies avaliable at $49.99, which I feel is a fair price if you really love your Bach and wish to hear it played with supreme artistic skill and understanding. But have faith and patience that philips may eventually re-release this recording. I see Philips is releasing lots of stuff that was OOP.
I see there is a Philips double cd with Brandenburgs and the 1041,1042 concertos for like $15. But does not have the 1043 douible concerto on this release."
