CD Reviews

Don't be misled!

"I own the "Varekai" DVD and love everything about it...especially the music. This is NOT the same music that is on the DVD. Some tracks are similar, but not even the performers are the same. To get the true soundtrack to the DVD, you have to order it directly from Cirque. I like this CD, but it is not what I thought I was ordering."
Not as advertised

"This is music, vocals from the show. It is the people who sing it during the show, it is NOT, however, all the music you'll see while watching the show. If what you're looking for is a simple soundtrack of the identical music you heard during the show THIS IS NOT IT.

The vocals are pretty and I'd even say that this may be worth getting if you love the show. But know what you're getting."
This is NOT the music from the show!!!

"This is an absolutely ridiculous concept album posing as the soundtrack to a wonderful Cirque show. This album takes the passion and joy of the show and turns it into a solemn art-house experiment that would be at home at some coffee shop with a depressed loner reciting poetry on open mike night.

I'm serious... there's a wonderfully elegaic violin (or maybe a viola, I can't remember) solo that opens the show that is beautiful and full of passion, and here it's transformed into the sound of rain and some guy saying "falling" a lot. And there's another sequence that turns the Cirque stage into a vibrant abstraction of undersea creatures, with equally vibrant music to match the visuals, but I'd be hard pressed to find the track that is supposed to represent that act on this cd.

Violaine Corradi is obviously capable of some inhumanly beautiful music, but this cd was handed over to someone named Nitin Sawhney, who wrote the most pretentious liner notes I've ever read, and I suspect the failure of this album falls in this person's lap.

I do NOT recommend this album..."
