Album DescriptionThe Sydney Symphony pays tribute to one of Australia's most illustrious composers and performers, Brett Dean, with a new CD of his works performed and recorded by the Sydney Symphony and released on their own label exclusively available through Fuse Music. The CD features Dean's `Viola Concerto' (with the composer as soloist) and other works for which he has received widespread acclaim including `Komarov's Fall' and `Twelve Angry Men' for 12 cellos. Dean is regarded as one of Australia's stand-out musicians, having won numerous awards including the 2006 Paul Lowin Orchestral Prize for his Viola Concerto. His clarinet concerto `Ariel's Music' was a prize winner at the 1999 UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers in Paris. The CD is handsomely packaged in a digipak with a 16 page booklet, and is the first of a full schedule of Sydney Symphony releases planned for 2008.
