"This record contains music by a composer, educated in the western avant garde but with additional experiences from extensive connections with noneuropean musics. He has been studying several noneuropean traditions. After learning and performing African music for more than 20 years, he returned to the Western tradition. This excursion in a wider human world is easily heard for instance in the titeltrack, "Viaggio", which means "Journey", where the rythmic drive and the colourfullness indicates a will to touch the central music perceptors in the human mind. The music is a successfull attempt to renew the western music structures, a new system för harmony (as far away from traditional tonality as from atonality), a new form thinking, a fresh and immidiate handling of complex rythms within a multicultural rythm system. Shortly, I recommend this record for all people, who are looking for something new and auditively appealing."
