CD Reviews
HARDCORE Honky-Tonk!

"Vernon Oxford "Let Me Sing You A Song" is 28 tracks of classic 60's honky-tonk country. If you are a person who understands that the power of country music has the most impact in the form of simple yet heartfelt tunes sung with genuine emotion, with alot of drinking and cheatin' thrown in for good measure, than this is an album you will appreciate. Fans of Hank Sr., Faron Young, Johnny Bush, and especially James Hand will definitely want to pick this one up. I highly recommend this album to anyone who has ever been haunted by the shuffle and walking bass of the honky-tonk sound, or had your heart broken by the "lump in your throat" emotion of a country waltz. Happy listening!"

"Finally one can listen to raw classic honky tonk without the scratches and pops of vinyl. Until now the only way to get in on the great sounds of Vernon Oxford was to search for hours on auctions or spring the $150+ for a 5 CD box set. This CD samples some of his best without losing the essence of 60's classic country. A pleasure to own..."

"Like a rare gem, sincere, heart felt stories told with a traditional country sound are all too uncommon these days but you just need to know where to look. Well look no further-Vernon Oxford's cd of RCA singles are representive here. I like this so much I ordered the 5 cd box set (which this is the first cd from that collection).Vernon does a great job with Harlan Howard tunes as well as Hank Williams Sr.'s. Here is a real country artist with a great backup band. One of my top ten cds. (see also Hank Williams Sr. and Ernest Tubb)He has to be the most underrated artist and if you like traditonal country sound in good fidelity here you go."
