The whole disc just flows along beautifully. If you enjoyed the sound quality and performances of the Medici's Beethoven cycle, then you'll really love this disc. This Nimbus CD [NI 5191] includes the Phantasy Quintet (tracks 1-4) and two String Quartets (tracks 5-8 & 9-12).
I've read some really good things about the Naxos version of the same Vaughan Williams music, but I haven't heard it yet. All I can say for sure is, these Medici Quartet performances are a classic in their own right." |
