"The first cafe Del Mar I ever purchased and probably the best. Combining happy-mellow tunes with a selection of more sombre moods. Throw in a typical Spanish influence every so often and there you have it. Check out 'Haunted Dancehall' (track 13) and 'Sargasso Sea' (track 8). This is music made for sunsets. Get down to the coast, whack this on and chill out to some of the most beautiful ambient music available - a real soul cleanser. If you're in with the Cafe Del Mar thing, you'll know all this for yourselves. Any new listener should make this their first buy out of the 6 currently on the market. Enjoy."

"first cafe del mar compilation i ever purchased and probably the best. one of those albums that you can listen to for its whole duration, it combines happy-mellow tracks with songs of a more sombre mood. throw in the odd typical spanish sound and there you have it. check out 'haunted dancehall' (track 13) and 'Sargasso Sea' (track 8). very summery feel - one for sunsets! get to the beach (early evening), whack this on and chill to some of the most beautiful ambient music available."
Ibiza on Ice (Chilled + Very, very cool!)

"This is an album of very good feeling. At first, I was sceptical of this album; I wasn't sure it would be able to better first volume. Sure enough after hearing the chilling sounds of: Sabres of Paradise's Orchestral 'Haunted Dancefloor'; the sublime, more upbeat poetry of Paco De Lucia's, no-frills Spanish guitar and bong piece 'Entre Dos Aguas'... I was convinced. I feel like with the other café del mar compilations, outside Ibiza, José Padilla and the music associated with him have not basked in the sunlight of recognition deserved. Café del mar 1 may have the slight edge - but the feel is not lost here - and there are, like in every volume- a few exceptional gems."
Excellent breezy ambience

"I originally got this on vinyl as four record collection. I loved it so much I had to buy the CD as well. This is very breezy, laid-back electronic music. Flamenco guitars make their way into tracks; various types of percussion (electronic and otherwise) are used. Some of the tracks are more along the acid-jazz vibe, some are more latin-oriented, some are more ambient. This is a good CD to set a relaxed mood without having to resort to something cheezy. Very sophisticated sound. I suppose my favorite is the playful "Sabor de Verano" by Jose Padilla. Others featured on the LP are Sabres of Paradise, Ramp, Silent Poets and Paco de Lucia."

"Absolutely incredible! My husband who isn't into music is finally getting into a groove. A true jewel for any collector or afficianado of ambient grooves. You definately want this one."
