"Velfarre. The disco club in Roppongi which has featured artists and DJ's from all over the globe since 1994.
Velfarre officially closed at noon on New Year's Day and went out in style which the club was known for.
As for the club, it will always be remembered for the artists, the DJ's, the atmosphere and most importantly the music.
Avex Trax, the record label that had took an interest in the night club since the beginning and has released many Velfarre related compilations.
Among the most popular was the "Cyber TRANCE" series which began back in 2001.
Since 2001, there have been a total of 18 Cyber TRANCE compilations. On November 29, 2006, the final Velfarre Cyber TRANCE compilation was released.
In "Velfarre Cyber TRANCE Complete Collection", you can call this a greatest hits as it compiles music from the previous releases on two CD's.
Having bought many Avex Velfarre related compilations in the past, each CD pretty much utilizes the entire space of the CD. No 45 minute compilations here. You're getting close to an hour and 20 minutes worth of music that mix well together.
Each CD features 25 songs that are anywhere between two to four minutes long.
Artists featured are a mix between American, European and Japanese DJ's. For those wondering if any JPOP artists are on this album, there is one track ("M" Above and Beyond Vocal Dub) by Hamasaki Ayumi.
Who you will find on this compilation are many DJ's and groups such as CHEMISTRY, DJ Kaos, Paul van Dyk, system F, Gouryella, Svenson & Gielen, DJ SHINKAWA, Sean & Kim, Micro Tools and many more.
Also, included in this collection is a 45-minute DVD featuring footage from the club's fifth anniversary celebrating Cyber TRANCE from May 2006.
On the DVD are DJ performances by Gouryella (Tenshi), Svenson & Gielen (The Beauty of Silence), Simulator (Take Off 2006), Remo-con (Cold Front), Lab-4 (Requiem) .
Also included are the PV Greatest Collection featuring music videos from Gouryella (Ligaya), Barthezz (Infected), system F (Dance Valley Theme), Svenson & Gielen (Twisted), DJ SHINKAWA vs. Future Breeze (The Moon), system F (Out of the Blue) and Yoji Biommehanika (Hardstyle Disco).
As for the DVD, the DVD is Region 2. So, you may need an all-region DVD player or computer DVD player to play it. It is definitely a welcome bonus to see Velfarre with the DJ's in action, the patrons dancing and to see it so crowded and lively. Also, the musical videos added in was also a great bonus.
In addition to the two CD's and DVD is a booklet with a comments from Cyber Trance Producer Nobby Uno, Cyber TRANCE organizer Takaow Yamano, Cyber TRANCE Continuous Mix and Resident DJ Rem-con, Cyber TRANCE Supervisor Kei Hiramatsu and more.
Also, a comment on Cyber TRANCE by energetic DJ/music writer Toshio Ueki and several Cyber TRANCE stickers are included.
Also, did I mention that the price for this compilation is under $25. Great price for a compilation + a DVD.
All in all, for a complete collection, this DVD is definitely fitting for one of the final releases in relation to Velfarre.
So, what it all comes down to is your taste in music. If you have a passion or a curiosity towards Cyber TRANCE or Eurobeat, you can't go wrong.
If you have owned an Avex Velfarre or Cyber TRANCE compilation in the past, you won't be disappointed with this release.
For me, these compilations are so full of energy and this complete collection is a fitting final for Velfarre's Cyber TRANCE music from the last six years.
Check it out!"
