Album DescriptionRestaurant Nomads is an Amsterdam institution from the same minds that brought the Supperclub venues to San Francisco, Singapore, Istanbul and, of course, the Dutch capital itself. An exclusive restaurant inspired by the Arabian Nomad culture, their long-standing partnership with Supperclub has seen them release six albums packed with inspiring sounds from around the globe. Volume seven of the series sees BBC Asian Network stalwart Pathaan take the reigns, rekindling the partnership that saw him compile last year's 'Beauty' installment of the Supperclub Ninesins series. Pathaan's broad musical tastes work perfectly with Nomads' eclectic policy for world music, but with no categories or boundaries, allowing him to raid his vaults and mix up past classics with undiscovered gems. The album kicks off with 'Riversong', Indian electric mandolin player U. Shrinivas take on Nitin Sawnhey's original, before the man himself teams up with Spanish band Ojos de Brujo on the haunting 'Shadowland'. Criss-crossing continents Pathaan mixes Washington DC's Thievery Corporation with African superstar Baaba Maal, and the Balkan band march of Jewish, Greek, Balkan collective Max Pashm with the sub-woofer testing beats of San Francisco's Bassnectar. Never one to be contained Pathaan has honed his diverse tastes over the years. Hand-picked by David Bowie to DJ on his Earthling tour, a residency at the Blue Note Caf? followed, courtesy of Talvin Singh, before he was picked up by the BBC. His Musical Rickshaw show has since become his signature, as he blends traditional world music with contemporary dub, broken beat and hip hop. This east meets west philosophy results in an inspired mix of some of the finest music available, making Supperclub presents Nomads 7 one not to be missed when it's served up!
