CD Reviews

Excellent album
Gertjan Hofwegen | San Francisco, CA United States | 09/20/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I own all 4 supper-club compilation cd's and think they are very strong indeed. Jurr & Roelove do an excellent job in selecting original tracks. I DJ myself and find that these CD's really keep me up to date regarding the lounge scene. The CD's always come as a double pack, la salle neige is a more mellow, loungy/eclectic/world music (during dinner) type of experience, le bar rouge (after dinner) is more upbeat. These guys have developed their own style spinning a blend of groovy stylish loungy tracks mixed with some soulful and even funky house, without getting too new-age-ish. Before you decide to sink your money into yet another Costes, Au Bar, Buddah-Bar, Maxim whatever compilation CD consider this. This is truly about the music and you hear some new original tracks."
Excellent Compilation in a Series of Excellent Compilations

"DJ's Jurr and Roelove have been spinning at the Supperclub for quite some time now and this, the fourth in their series of compilations, is by far the most satisfying to date. The first disk, la salle niege, keeps a nice range of memorable downbeat tracks. (And most of my friends tell me that downbeat music is never memorable, how wrong they are!) Most impressive is the selection and blending in the middle tracks: Mr. Suitcase, Life Changes, and Chez Roger Boite Funk. The second disk, le bar rouge, is a great mixture of funk and house. Once again the selection and blending of the middle tracks is amazing. Overall the set has a great groove, and really captures the experience of the restaurant and club, which is a must if you ever find yourself in Amsterdam."
