"This CD includes all of Mississippi John Hurt's 1928 cuts plus sides from Richard "Rabbit" Brown and Hambone Willie Newbern. Check out Hambone Willie Newbern's "Roll and Tumble Blues" and see where Muddy got some of his licks. If you were planning to buy John Hurts Avalon Blues: Complete 1928 Okeh Recordings by Sony/Columbia, you can get this CD instead and get the other two artists' cuts as a bonus. The only downside is that the John Hurt cuts on this CD don't sound as clean as those on the Sony/Columbia version which seems to have the hisses and pops remastered out. From a historical perspective, it's worth it though. - RR"
