Ska was born in Jamaica, nurtured in the packed Kingston dancehalls filled with super-cool "rude boys," and fueled by the dreams and aspirations of the artists and producers alike. The most legendary of these producers was Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, the owner of Studio One, who almost single-handedly created the Jamaican music industry. The 19 selections found here showcase not only the well-known artists such as Bob Marley & the Wailers and the Skatalites, but also many of the forgotten voices of the ska era, including Clue J & the Blues Blasters, Jackie Opel, and the Charmers.
