Amazon.com"Holding On," a previously unreleased Skatalites track, opens this roundup of mostly East coast-based young ska-meisters and lends elder statesman gravity and history to their giddy, "skamatic" bounce. But before the American bloods take over, Jamaican ska supergroup The Coyabalites, featuring 6-string god Ernie Ranglin with Vin Gordon, Glen Dacosta, and David Madden on horns, turn in a jubiliant "My Boy Lollipop," with Judy Gordon reprising Millie Small's vocals on the 1961 ditty that became Jamaica's first international hit. Two formidable all-girl groups, Brave new Girl and Wicked Wicked Pepperseed, are included. Lauren Stauber's low-end vocals in "The Creator Has a Master Plan" are compelling and Britt Savage does an excellent revamp of the Bad Brain's "Sailin' On." --Elena Oumano
