Original Artists - Original Recordings - Rare Gems
M. Kreffel | Indpls Indiana | 12/01/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)
"Yes, it's a BMG compilation, but these are all original recordings, not cheesy re-recordings that all of us oldies collectors despise. I'd like to point out that for the money you will get some hard-to-find gems, plus Last Date/Floyd Kramer, GTO/Ronny & The Daytonas, and Baby The Rain Must Fall/Glenn Yarbrough are all difficult to find in their original versions. The ones available on iTunes are not the original recordings, so be advised. I highly recommend this three disc set if you are looking to fill out your digital oldies collection and want the original recordings. Liner notes are sparse, but you are given the name of the original labels."
60's Eclectic Collection
K. Call | Brockton,Ma. | 12/28/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)
"I've been looking for Sopwith Camel's "Hello, Hello", everywhere. I figured it was too obsure to find. Not so. Once I saw that, along with Ketty Lester's terrific "Love Letters, "The End of the World", and the only song I know with a verb conjugation, " Grazing in the Grass", this collection sounded like a good bet. Some different selections, like Floyd Kramer's piano piece, "Last Date", " Moon River" by Henry Mancini, along with the usual rock staples like the Guess who and the Lovin' Spoonful. All original recordings by the original artists. Highly recommended, especially at this price."
30 Tracks of Blissful Sixties Tunes
Stephen Cramer | Salem, OR USA | 05/24/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)
"Sopwith Camel, The Lemon Pipers, Gale Garnett, The Guess Who are some the first-rate and high chart action stuff here.
Quality sound here too (even the good-grief 1910 Fruitgum Co. 'Yummy') with minimal background tape hiss which on these older recordings can and is an on going issue.
Enjoy
PS Just listened to Yummy, Yummy, Yummy again...please BMG/Sony never use this track again: ever!"
