"This was the first disc I purchased from the Secret Museum of Mankind series, and it convinced me to purchase the rest of the collection soonafter. As incredible as the entire series is, this cd in particular will retain a special place in my heart. It is filled with both very upbeat and very soothing music. While there is a lot of variation from song to song (East Africa is a huge territory), the melodies are consistently appealing, and the rhythms always shifting, complex, and moving. In all the quality (and rarity) of music on this cd are unsurpassed, and I listen to it often. It has become a part of my consciousness, and never fails to make me smile and lift my spirits. Out of a collection of about 600 cd's of all genres and time periods, this album is definitely one of my favourites. Highly recommended!"

"With over t20 tracks there is virtual no stylistic overlap. A wonderful variety of music. The record works just fine as a collection of and also serves as a good jump point if you wish to explore African music further."

"The Secret Museum of Mankind series is a wonderful collection of music and musicians from around the world and across time. The notes give a lot of insight about this stage of "world" music. The music is beautiful and amazing. If you have ecclectic musical tastes - you will be very happy with any of the CD's from this series.
This one is my favorite of the whole series. The music is very joyful and sometimes confounds your senses. I feel I obtained a valuable gem with this purchase!"
