Synopsis
Album Description Born out of Jamaican musical culture, and formed in the nexus between studio and dancehall, dub has influenced modern dance music in all its forms. Dub originated in the 1960s, when King Tubby began mixing dubs and adding delay and reverb effects. This set in motion a formula that would last through the 1970s and beyond. The Rough Guide To Dub portrays the original impetus of the form, as developed by the original dubmaster King Tubby during the genre?s first Golden Age, and features essential mixes from his contemporaries Errol ?ET? Thompson, Yabby You and Lee Perry. Similar CDs

CD ReviewsA pretty good mix... Yohanes Fikre-Selassie | 08/23/2005 (4 out of 5 stars) "But if I were introducing a friend to dub, I'd just get him a CD from the Blood & Fire label, like "Dub Gone Crazy: The Evolution of Dub at King Tubby's 1975-1977" or "Heavyweight Dub/Killer Dub." Perhaps this CD is best used, in conjunction with the "Rough Guide to Reggae" book, as a buyer's reference guide." Dub collection for the new fan and the avid one The Upsetter | Hollywood, CA | 08/15/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is a great collection from all of the big names of dub. I'm a huge reggae fan, but only own a handfull of full dub discs. This one has a nice variety of styles and moods. A lot of folks, that I know, who are new to the dub world often have issues with the 8 to 10 minute track lengths. Most cuts on here are actually pretty short (by dub standards), so it should be easily tolerated by anyone that likes good music."
