I purchased this years ago on cassette tape. I looked for it last year on CD and couldn't find it. I thought I would give it another try this year. This is the absolute best collection of Christmas songs. My husband has tried to find others to replace this set when I couldn't find it on CD, even the Time Life collection. It just doesn't do it. Buck Owens - Santa looked a lot like Daddy, Johnny Mathis - Carol of the Bells and I actually like Mel's version of Christmas Song. Bing Crosby and the Andrew Sisters singing Jingle Bells, Boogie Woogie Santa Claus, I could go on and on. My son was going to try and find the songs seperately and burn a CD for me, but now he doesn't have to. If you are looking for the perfect collection, buy this, even if it is used. You won't regret it. Merry Christmas" Wonderful Compilation of Christmas Classics! Katherine Du Maurier | 12/08/2006 (4 out of 5 stars) "LOVE this 2-CD set, and it wouldn't be Christmas at my house without these in our CD changer (right after Andy Williams' "Merry Christmas" album).
I would love to give 5 stars, because truly I think just about every home would benefit from having these great Christmas classics; however, I have to agree with an earlier reviewer: it is simply unbelievable that they put Mel Torme's "The Christmas Song" on instead of Nat King Coles! Yikes, what genius made THAT decision? That right there was reason enough to subtract one star... My only other complaints -- the "I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus", and "All I want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth" get on my nerves (like the earlier reviewer). However, I think this is just a personal taste issue -- they are "classics", and some people love them (like my kids for instance, LOL). LOVE these 2 CDs -- will never be without them come Christmas time! Highly recommend them. : ) " |
