CD Reviews

Brightness in The Last Days of Disco
Disco Buff | Tokyo, Japan | 10/20/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"When I used to go to discos in Tokyo in the mid-80s, the last days of disco, one of the most impressive and heavy-played tunes there was that of the High Energy sound. Although it evoked a variety of criticizm like ''Cheap!''and ''Frivorous!,'' many disco freaks like me loved to dance to that music with such a highly danceable and catchy melody. This CD set packages the label's representative 12'' tunes, including ''So Many Man, So Little Time''and ''High Energy,''both of which were produced by Ian Levine, the legendary DJ in London. The sound quality of every tune in this CDs are good unlike many other retro type CDs. A-rank recommendation especially for the 80s pop dance classic fans."
Put Good Tracks Where They Deserve!
S. G. Camomot | Cebu City, Philippines | 01/09/2010
(3 out of 5 stars)

"The tracks are indeed very amazing in their 12-inch glory.

The tracks could have been printed in good quality discs and not CD-R. Information in the inlay are lacking. The manufacturer stated is Awesome but it seems that it's still Hot Productions that's just slightly labeled and repackaged. Is it that maybe they just belong to the same group?

Good tracks deserve excellent materials!

The disco side of 80s NRG
Daniel W. Kelly | Long Island, NY United States | 05/14/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Passion Records, O Records, Nightmare Records, and Record Shack all filled their roster with sing-songy, hi-nrg artists. But this compilation demonstrates that Record Shack was definitely leaned mostly towards the more disco or R&B oriented dance sounds (not much of that more electronic/new wave pulsing synth bass line), so if that's your cup of tea, you get loads of the big tracks here, in pretty much all full length versions. Track times are:

CD1

1. high energy (7:51)

2. love's gone mad (8:09)

3. so many men, so little time (8:18)

4. caught in the act (7:48)

5. emergency (7:35)

6. all American boy (7:40)

7. close to perfection (8:12)

8. stranger in disguise (8:10)

9. vanity (7:19)

10. run for cover (8:06)

CD2

1. reflections (8:13)

2. on a crowded street (7:57)

3. I'm living my own life (7:22)

6. fan the flame (7:06)

7. primitive desire (8:28)
