Amazon.comComing straight from the club dance floors, World Groove has little for the ethnic purist, but a lot for those who like their dance beats peppered with exotic world flavors. Many artists are actually from indigenous locales but all the music is filtered through remixes and urban grooves. Nitin Sawhney (India/UK), Rachid Taha (Algeria/France) Kwanzaa Posse (Italy/Nigeria), and Yothu Yindi (Australia) are good examples of original fusion material created just that way--as a cosmopolitan-cool, cross-cultural celebration. With some of the top producers and remixers on board the grooves are powerful, dope, and as hip as the next big thing, so check the Birkenstocks in for some Doc Martins. --Derek Rath
