Album Description "With an aftermath so immense and far-reaching that affected locals still consider it recent, it's hard to believe that a whole year has passed since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast on August 29. This month, local space rockers Chef Menteur and their similarly experimental labelmates on Backporch Revolution Records will commemorate that fateful anniversary with a special concert." - OFFBEAT Forged in the floodwaters of the 2005 disaster, Proud to Swim Home features local New Orleans musicians and includes the best-known names in the local electronic scene: Chef Menteur, Potpie, Time Promises Power, and The Buttons. It also features, for the first time on CD, tracks by newcomers B. Killingsworth, Liteworks, and Archipelago. The disc was mastered by the legendary John Fischbach (Stevie Wonder, War) at Piety Street Studios. The title, Proud to Swim Home, seen famously on the bumpers of cars all over New Orleans, was first conceived mere days after the two members of Time Promises Power evacuated from New Orleans with their spouses and pets. 100% of sales from the bumper sticker go to the Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity; 100% of sales from the CD will go to hurricane relief as well. Proud to Swim Home is an amazing addition to New Orleans' musical legacy. Fans of The Orb, Merzbow, Steve Reich, Black Dice, Amon Düül, and the ambient underground will find a home in the same streets that birthed The Meters, Louis Armstrong, and Galactic. The Mvmnt is happy to help bring the strong vision of Proud to Swim Home to the masses.
