Album DescriptionBelgium's highly-acclaimed Poplife party celebrates its 10th anniversary with the mix compilation, Poplife Sucks. The Poplife party started off in 1998 as a reaction to the sterile house and techno beats at parties during those times. It became a chaotic mix of presumably un-mixable styles; rock, pop, disco, new wave, electro, and far more. The sound was completely refreshing and the crowd immediately loved it. The DJs back then were Mo & Benoeli (later The Glimmers) and Stephen De Waele (later 2 Many DJs). Saying that the mash-up phenomenon started off at Poplife is maybe overstated; on the other hand, the English music Bible The Face described Poplife as "a hysteric superjam of unreconcilable styles mashed-up into a relentless groove." Aha. Whatever you call it, Poplife Sucks is an all-inclusive party celebrating dance music across all genres that doesn't discriminate. This mix includes big, classic tracks next to hot and fresh new burners that will become future-classics. Tracks selected by The Glimmers and Olivier Tjon, edited by The Entrepreneur. Artists include: Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Moloko, The Chaplin Band, Adriano Celentano, Japan, Jacknife Lee, Brandon Cooke & Roxanne Shante, Simian Mobile Disco, Manu Dibango, Kid Frost, Liquid, Liquid, The Time, The Glimmers, Liasons Dangereuses, 16 Bit, Erotic Dissidents, Material, Switch, and Aphex Twin.
