O Brother what a compilation!

"Judging from the cover, this is an obviously shameless effort to exploit the popularity of the O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack. But whoever pulled together this anthology had some luck, taste or both. It is an excellent introduction to old-time music and a great follow-on to the soundtrack and the Down From the Mountain concert recording. This is old original recordings of some classic old-time music from the time period when categories such as "Country" and "Bluegrass" had yet to emerge. Wonderful stuff here and a great value."
